Vitamin E comprises a group of natural substances called tocopherols, which are fat-soluble and can be recommended to anyone concerned about oxidative stress. The active ingredient here is D-alpha-tocopheryl succinate, a highly bioavailable form of vitamin E. Each capsule contains 330 mg of vitamin E (400 IU)—2,750% of the Reference Intake for vitamins and minerals.
The vitamin E in this supplement is extracted from soybean oil. There are a total of 8 naturally occurring forms of vitamin E: the alpha, beta, gamma, and delta forms of tocopherol and tocotrienol, which are often synthesized by plants from homogentisic acid. Vitamin E occurs naturally in foods such as nuts, olive oil, leafy greens, and avocados. Supplementation may be appropriate during periods of increased stress.
Vitamin E is fat-soluble, which means the body stores it and builds up reserves. Vitamin E does not have an optimal effect without the presence of vitamins C and B2, selenium, and glutathione; it is dependent on these substances.
