Inosine with Arginine can be used as a suitable supplement to intensify and prolong workouts. It is suitable as a component of supplements for strength, endurance, and speed-endurance sports, and provides the body with an immediate source of energy. The active ingredient, inosine, consists of hypoxanthine (a purine) and the simple sugar (carbohydrate) ribose. This active ingredient directly influences a number of processes that positively affect physical performance. Inosine increases the ability to transport oxygen to the muscles, thereby temporarily reducing fatigue and enhancing performance. Inosine is a precursor for the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate/inosine triphosphate)—one of the body’s primary energy sources. It stimulates enzymatic activity in the liver, thereby helping to maintain ATP levels.
Inosine promotes the release of oxygen from red blood cells (it increases the affinity of oxygen for the red blood pigment hemoglobin). This increases the supply of oxygen to the muscles, as red blood cells can take up more oxygen as they pass through the lungs, resulting in more efficient muscle function. This effect lasts 1–2 hours. Inosine also helps increase ATP levels. A large proportion of the ingested inosine that enters the bloodstream is taken up by red blood cells.
