ATP Vitality B12 Forte 90 tob - Description
ATP Vitality B12 Forte
Vitamin B12 is an essential water-soluble vitamin from the B-vitamin group that plays a key role in numerous metabolic processes of the body. In the body, it helps DNA synthesis, red blood cell formation, nerve function and more. Since the human body has the capacity for some storage (especially in the liver) and is completely dependent on intake through food or supplementation, vitamin B12 is an important component of a proper nutritional regimen. A vitamin B12 supplement is an appropriate addition to the diet, especially for those at higher risk of deficiency (e.g. athletes, heavy work and physical demands, vegans, elderly individuals, people with absorption disorders).
Physiological functions of vitamin B12
- Red blood cell formation: vitamin B12 is involved, together with folic acid, in nucleotide synthesis and cell division in bone marrow tissues.
- Normal nervous system function and psychological (cognitive) function: vitamin B12 is essential for myelination of nerve fibres, synthesis of neurotransmitters and normal nerve and brain function.
- Normal homocysteine metabolism: vitamin B12 contributes to the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, thereby maintaining normal blood levels of homocysteine.
- Reduction of fatigue and tiredness: sufficient intake of vitamin B12 can help to reduce the feeling of tiredness.
- Cell division: vitamin B12 is involved in the process of cell division - which is essential for the growth and maintenance of tissues.
Target groups for which vitamin B12 supplementation is suitable:
- Athletes and people with high muscle activity.
- Vegetarians and vegans - because natural food sources of vitamin B12 are almost exclusively of animal origin.
- Persons with absorption disorders
- elderly people - vitamin B12 absorption may decline with advancing age
- people with higher alcohol consumption or poor diet and lifestyle
Vitamin B12 is considered safe. The SCF (Scientific Committee on Food) has not established a Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) for it in the past because no adverse effects have been found at higher doses in healthy individuals.
There are specific approved health claims for Vitamin B12 under EU legislation.
