The sugar content comes from the ingredients used in production. Maltitol, which Proteinella contains, is actually a sugar alcohol with a caloric value about 70% lower than that of regular sugar. A significant advantage of maltitol is that it has a glycemic index about half that of sucrose (regular sugar), meaning it does not raise blood sugar levels as much as regular sugar. Proteinella is therefore ideal for those who want to enjoy sweets, as well as for people with diabetes. Furthermore, it does not cause tooth decay, and part of this sugar alcohol is not absorbed into the bloodstream.
It also contains fiber, which slows the absorption of sugars and thus further delays the rise in blood sugar. What about fats?
