Swimming

Swimming is a physical activity in a specific environment where, in addition to the energy required for muscle activity, the energy requirements for thermogenesis are increased. Part of the adaptation to the aquatic environment is the higher percentage of subcutaneous fat that is typical in swimmers. Therefore, the swimmer must have sufficient energy resources available before exercise, which, as in other sports, can be provided by products containing carbohydrates with different degrees of release, or other substances with an energizing effect such as carnitine, creatine or BCAA. Of course, it also depends on how long the training or race is. In swimming it is hard to consume anything during the performance, so rather pre-training products are used with emphasis on their good digestibility, in the water environment a full stomach impairs performance. After training, special attention should be paid to quick energy replenishment, products containing carbohydrates, proteins or free amino acids, possibly supplemented with vitamins and minerals, are used to restore energy sources and support regeneration processes.
